Acupuncture, is a form of energy medicine based on Traditional Chinese Medicine that is traced back at least 2,500 years. It is a safe and effective therapy recommended by the World Health Organisation for many common conditions.
Based on the premise that we have energy pathways (Qi) known as meridians which flow throughout our body, acupuncture involves the insertion of individually wrapped sterile needles into specific acupuncture points in the body. This is in order to achieve a balanced flow of qi along these meridians which is essential for good health. Disruptions of this flow are believed to be responsible for disease and ill health.
In my practice I sometimes use acupuncture in isolation or in some cases I incorporate it with other areas in my practice. It really depends on what’s best for each person at that particular time.
Each acupuncture appointment lasts approximately one hour, the first visit is longer.
